Thinking of Sarah
For those of us who have been following the trial of Cameron John Brown for the muder of his biological daughter, 4 year old Lauren Sarene Key, the mistrial declared yesterday by Judge Mark Arnold came as a disappointment.
The jury began deliberations Friday, August 4th and last Friday they sent Judge Arnold a note saying that they were deadlocked. He sent them back to continue deliberations, telling them it was their duty to deliberate and instructed them to leave their personal lives out of it, and only go by the evidence presented in the trial.
Yesterday, they returned and sent another note saying they were still deadlocked. Judge Arnold asked them if further deliberations would help and the answer was no. He then asked if hearing from the attorneys on each side regarding their inability to agree on malice aforethought would help bring a unanamous verdict and again the answer was no.
He then declared a mistrial.
Anonymous supporters of Cameron Brown have declared it a victory and accused those of us who feel Cameron was guilty of being fools (and those are the nicer names). However, every single juror voted GUILTY in this case. What they couldn't agree on was the degree of guilt. The jury's final vote was 10 guilty of murder (2 voted guilty of 1st degree murder; 8 voted guilty of 2nd degree murder) and 2 voted guilty of manslaugter.
Not one NOT GUILTY vote was cast.
The re-trial has been scheduled for October 11th.
Tonight, my heart goes out to Sarah Key-Marer and her friends and family. Sarah, your internet family will be here for you as well.

This must be absolutely awful for Sarah, but she has managed to hang tough for many years. Hopefully, she can keep the faith for another few months.
The fact the Geragross is staying for the next trial should speed things up considerably.
Jon, I beg you! Please come forward with the things that Cameron told you.
Don't be afraid of being cross examined by Geragos, he is full of wind a p*ss!
Justice for Lauren!
That should be wind 'and' p*zz! Apologies!
How sad for the family to have to go through all of this again. Why can't people see who the victim is here...not just Lauren, but her whole family.
Sarah & Greg, This is Gregs cousin Pam in Oregon. My thoughts and prayers are constant. Been following things online. Will continue to follow and pray!
Pamski
Pam, thanks for coming. Our continued prayers go out to Greg and Sarah. He is one wonderful man!
