But today was the last day for Bush to sign H.R. 6429 allowing the money collected for the Esperanza fire families to go to them without taxation and that would allow the WFF and United Way to pass it on to them without risking loss of their nonprofit status. If Bush doesn't sign it today, and it looks unlikely, it's the same as a VETO. The bill dies.

So he never did sign it, eh? How much evil can that man come up with? What the hell is he trying to prove? Anyone can name a post office, for heaven's sake?

Damn! Just damn!

Lori emailed me with a bill that was also pending about premature births and this bill would fund studies and research, it was endorsed by the March of Dimes. She said at the "11th hour" it was signed (by congress not the prez). I'm sorry the Esperanza bill was not signed. Apparently he is having too much fun in Crawford to bother with such things. Sad for the families who have already lost so much.

I cannot respect a President with such skewed priorities.

Shame on you, Mr. Bush.

The fire service takes care of its own. It always has and it always will. Public perception has to change. The next time you hear about a fire station closing think of your parents, or your children, or the people you love.

The FDNY suffered a series of station closures after 9/11/01. Here's the url to the UFA site about recent fall out from that decision:
